Lyon Soil & Water Conservation District  (SWCD)               

The Lyon Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors meets every 4th Tuesday of the Month.
                                               

Meetings are open to the public and are handicap accessible.

The meeting location is in our office at:                  1424 E. College Drive, Suite 600, Marshall, MN    >Winter meetings  October through April  at 10 AM, >Summer meetings  May to November  at 7 PM.         If meeting times or dates are changed it will be posted on our web site and in the office 30 days prior to meeting.

     Minutes will be posted for the past 12 months.     Earlier minutes are available at our office. Minutes will be posted after approval at the next months Board meeting.

PLEASE NOTE:  Lyon SWCD Board will start it's summer meeting time with the April meeting,  7 PM

SWCD Board Memberships:

The SWCD are member partners and serve on Joint Powers Boards to provide the best programs and guidance for programs  that ensure we work together to best protect the natural resources and provide the best service to you. These partnerships are within watershed as well as several counties.  Our programs are not limited to only Lyon County.

Redwood Cottonwood Rivers Control Area (RCRCA):  RCRCA is a Joint Powers Organization governed by a representative from the SWCD and the County of each member from the counties of: Brown, Cottonwood, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray Pipestone, Redwood & Yellow Medicine.

Coteau Des Prairie Resource Development Council: 

A Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) is a unique program that is led by local officials that help people care for and protect their natural resources in a way that improves the local economy, environment and living standards.

The RC&D membership in SW MN includes the counties of: Cottonwood, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood & Rock ~ The Board that governs the RC&D is an appointed from the SWCD and Co Commissioners of each member county.

Otto Nyquist serves on this Council

 SW MN Joint Powers Engineering Group:  This is a joint powers formed by the SWCD's in SW MN to provide professional engineering services to the SWCD's when staff does not have the time or perhaps the expertise to accomplish.  JPO staff is house in Murray and Rock counties.

Gary Crowley serves on this Board

Lyon County Water Task Force Board:  This is the advisory board for the implementation of the Counties Water plan goals.  This board makes decisions concerning the awarding of implementation funds for projects that fulfill the goals and objectives of the water plan.

Otto Nyquist serves on this Board.

Yellow Medicine River Watershed Advisory Board:  This is a group formed from each county that provides information and advise on goals and issues within the Yellow Medicine River Watershed.
